John Cusack said that "Democracy is participation." From that I surmised that participation doesn't mean that you go down to your local ward office every day, or become a community activist. In a democracy everybody participates, whether they are aware of it or not. We all pay taxes, our own financial well-being is intrinsically linked to that of our nation, and as our country finds itself in troubled waters so do we.
