About this Video

My name is Joycia Fireroze, and I am a 16th generation American. Five hundred years of every native and world flavor blended into my DNA woodpile, which makes Independence Day my ethnic holiday. To separate my story from America's seems impossible to me, for democracy a way of life for me, not an affect. Bottom-line, I am a humble and obscure American citizen, but I am a real American. (Are you?) My job is, “Ringing bells, rocking boats, and raising awareness,” as spokesperson for the American Spirit. Joycia Fireroze www.joycia.com

About this Video

This film is a day in the life of my grandfather, Anthony Lisinichia, 88 years old. Child of the depression, WWII vet, widower and patriarch, this film documents some simple activities of his life: going to the Y, shopping for groceries, visiting the cemetery. But what results is a resonant portrait of a dynamic man at the tail end of his life, and a subtle social commentary that shows that many of the problems our society is facing now could be avoided by the wisdom of our elders.
